It’s important that we like our nurturing daily habits because it’s also important that we practice them regularly. We already have so many habits of which we’re not aware, and many of which cause us stress. The upcoming holiday season is for most of us a life-size stress inducer. It is no wonder our immune systems become compromised our emotions exhausted and our world expands beyond its daily boundaries pressing our limits. Now is the time to replace this with positive practices of which we’re conscious. In the same time that it takes us to carry out our less healthy, unconscious routines, we can carry out our healthy, conscious ones. I want to share with you some of my stress relievers.
My first, Dr. Frank L. Aieta, Naturopathic Physician, Certified Acupuncturist and Nutritionist, - draieta.com was my first link to physical balance. My immune system was becoming my enemy, my weight ballooned, and I wasn’t eating, I had allergic reactions to everything I did eat, my skin was dry, scaly and painful. My hair was so bad my husband, Matthew Phillips, was giving me highlights one day using a method of bleaching the hair and IT TURNED BLACK!
Never had he seen anything like it. Doctors were prescribing everything under the sun (at one point sixteen pills a day) and things were getting worse. It had to stop so I did just that, I stopped and meditated and listened to my body and realized “garbage in garbage out”. I checked around and got a referral to Frank. Within three months my body started to change and it has evolved over the past six years to what it is today. Healthy, able to naturally heal itself and as my husband says fine turned, voluptuous and yummy (his words not mine)! Today, my nutrition is my top priority and my overall well being shows the rewards.
My next step was fitness and for this venture I choose Susannah Marchese, certified instructor and owner of PHIT Pilates studio - phitpilates.com. Susannah was definitely the right choice for me. I have other health issues that cause severe pain in my muscles. In my past attempts at physical wellness I have met individuals who did not listen and pushed my body along with the mainstream. At PHIT Pilates Susannah worked with my limitations BUT pushed me beyond my mental limitations that I had set for myself due to past experiences. Every time she was correct and spot on. The consequences were pain free days and restful nights.

This holiday more than any other in recent times, our concerns are on our ability to give in the spirit of the season along with getting the most for our dollar. At Per Se Aveda our focus is the same. Creating greater awareness of Aveda as a giftable lifestyle brand that offers our guests the opportunity to purchase gifts that make a difference, not only for the recipient but for the giver as well. This holiday we are again returning to Nepal, incorporating the beautiful handmade lokta paper which is sustainably harvested by a community of women in Nepal. This paper is used for our holiday gift boxes. By working with this community for our second holiday program, we are contributing more valuable income which is used to build their community and their business capabilities for future growth opportunities.
Starting early this year, first week of November, we will be offering Aveda Gift Sets and accessories with a consumer savings opportunity. Gift Certificates designed to give the gift that will keep on giving throughout the year. By purchasing a gift certificate for spa, hair or boutique you will give someone a chance to relive that special gift over and over. Spa time is the time to take care of your body and soul. Whether it’s local or an exotic destination, spas are much more than just fabulous treatments. They can be a hot bed for fabulous fitness. From Pilates to horseback riding, hiking a mountain or shooting the rapids, spa time can be about rejuvenating that feeling of using your body for exercise and movement. We all need to unwind and de-stress and some people like to do that with exercise while others enjoy being pampered. Spa treatments, such as Per Se Aveda Spas customized facials or Aveda body treatments, are just the ticket to rest and relaxation. Whatever your preference, find time for spa time. Your body and soul need it.
